Introduction
If you’re like me, you’ve been in a situation where you’ve had one of those “I need help!” moments. You could use an extra hand—or two or three—with something big. But who should you hire? That’s the question I’m going to tackle today. Here are my top tips for assembling a dream team:
Hire people who think differently from you.
Hire people who think differently from you.
When it comes to assembling a dream team, hiring people who think differently from you is one of the most important things you can do. It would be best to have people who would challenge your thinking, have different perspectives and make better decisions than you would have. It’s not about hiring someone more intelligent than everyone else–that’s just asking for trouble–but rather finding someone who has a different way of approaching problems or seeing things in ways that complement yours (and vice versa). This will help make all of you better leaders and enable them to bring their best selves into work each day because they feel valued by their peers and colleagues.
Hire people who are more intelligent than you.
Hiring people more intelligent than you is the best way to get the best work done. The value of hiring intelligent people cannot be overstated. Still, it’s even better if those smart people are more intelligent than you in specific areas that matter most to your business.
For example, if you’re building an e-commerce site and need someone who can build out a custom checkout process for payment processing vendors like Stripe or PayPal, then having someone on your team with experience doing this will make all the difference in how quickly and efficiently they can do it–and how much money it saves your company in development costs down the line.
Hire those who challenge your thinking, and don’t let them go.
Hire those who challenge your thinking, and don’t let them go.
This is important because hiring people who agree with you or who you think are like-minded is easy. But if you want a team that can think outside the box, hire someone who doesn’t believe exactly like you and ensure they stay on board!
Hire people who are driven.
Hire people who are driven to make things happen. They will make your business achieve its goals.
It’s simple, but it’s important to remember that the people you work with are just as important as your product or service–if not more so! Therefore, you want to surround yourself with good people who share your values and will make the company a better place for everyone involved.
Give them a good mission, not a job description.
You must give them a good mission, not a job description, to assemble a dream team.
- Help them see where you want to go and how they can help get there.
- Provide the necessary tools and resources for them to do their work, but don’t micromanage every detail of what they do with their time or energy–let them use their judgment when it comes down to making decisions about how best to spend those resources! Of course, you want people who know how to make decisions on their own (and learn from their mistakes), so give them room for growth and autonomy within your organisation’s framework as needed by providing clear guidelines around which decisions are significant enough that they need central approval before being made; otherwise, let everyone else focus on doing whatever is necessary to achieve whatever goals we’re aiming toward together!
Hire people who are always looking for new ideas.
You have to be on the lookout for the next big thing, and you can only do that with people always looking for new ideas.
You need to seek out people who are curious, eager to learn, and open to new ideas and ways of doing things. You want team members who will explore every option available before deciding what direction your business should go because they know there’s always more than one way to skin a cat–or build your dream team!
Don’t hire people who resemble or think like you; instead, hire people with diverse talents and perspectives to enhance the team’s strengths and help it reach its goals.
To assemble a dream team, you must think outside of the box regarding hiring. You can’t hire people who resemble you or feel like you–you need a diverse group of individuals with different talents and perspectives that will enhance the team’s strengths and help it reach its goals.
It’s also essential for managers to know how to handle conflict in their teams to stay calm despite all these differences in thinking (or at least not let it get in their way).
Bottom Line
Hiring is a tricky business, but it can be done. The key is to hire people who think differently from you, are more intelligent than you and challenge your thinking. You also want them to have diverse talents and perspectives to enhance the team’s strengths and help it reach its goals.
