BBC Business tweeted earlier this year that many business owners were close to bankruptcy when the recession was biting hard. Even now when it’s all gradually getting better, it’s still not yet plain sailing for entrepreneurs.
Sol confided that the cost of shuttling across his retail chain, monitoring the stores and continually having to make long journeys was taking a huge toll on his bottom line and his health.
Sol is no different to most retail business owners who have built the business from one location to multiple locations and sometimes in different countries. Sol has a young family that he seldom spends time with, always on the go to ensure that the stores are well served, no foul play etc. He was simply burning out with the chore of looking after a large chain of stores.
I got to know Sol some years back through a family contact. During Christmas 2012, I got to know about his challenge with travelling in long traffic across the UK three to four times every week and the toll this was having on his finances and health.
We simply provided a solution to link the machines in his stores, then linked them as an app on his Ipad and iPhone. This has completely cut out travelling across stores, Sol now only works from the head office, and most importantly, profit is up and two more stores are about to be opened!
