Love Your Customers

It’s Valentine’s Day. This is poignant for me as a married man. But, in reality, showing that you appreciate and love your loved one and a customer or customers is quite similar. You cannot stop.

Customers are human. They need to know that they are loved and appreciated. As you know, love is so big that a day has been set aside to celebrate it. I will be sharing practical insights about loving your customers.

Your customers are your most excellent ambassadors. If you treat them well, they will help your growth, consolidation or expansion.

I will share 7 ways to show customers you love them.

  1.  Address them by their names: It is important to be customer-centric to the point where you address your customer as John or Jane. Never address your customer as “Dear Customer”.
  2. Actively listen: Just like you need to listen to your loved one actively, you need to listen to your customer across all channels actively; phone, web, chat and even face-to-face.
  3. Make things happen: For someone you love, you make things happen. Don’t hesitate. If you want your customers to stick with you, you must make things happen for them. Get things done as promised.
  4. Solve their problems: At different customer touchpoints, problems will occur. Please keep it simple and go the extra length to resolve their issue.
  5. Commemorate their milestones: In 2018, it is easy to use CRM to note key customers’ milestones. Like you wouldn’t miss your loved one’s .e.g birthday. Sending personalised congratulatory messages makes your customers feel appreciated and special.
  6. Stay on top of their thoughts: AI and Social media have made this simple. By aggregating and getting a better insight into what is relevant to your customers, you can share content that engages them consciously and subconsciously.
  7. Never say Yes when You mean No: In my experience, this has caused a lot of issues and revenue loss for clients, small, medium and large companies. Instead, ensure your customer service process is effective. Follow up on your promises to the end.

All these borders on ensuring your customers have a better experience dealing with your brand. I help design, deliver or refine Customer Experience Transformation.

A global sports brand client of mine had issues implementing some of the abovementioned things. However, by implementing some of these strategies, they were able to make things right.

It’s about doing it right and making customers know that you care.

Bottom Line

The key to business growth is finding the right strategy for your company. You can increase sales by developing new products or services, acquiring other businesses and growing organically through organic growth strategies like gaining market share. Companies must be flexible when facing uncertainty to remain competitive in today’s marketplace.
